AKC Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC)

CGC is for dogs that have completed Beginner and Intermediate Obedience training and the handler would like to complete the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test with their canine. This certification is open to both purebred and mixed breeds. The CGC Test will be completed after successful completion of the CGC course, during CGC Testing times, which will be posted as they become available.

Skills to be assessed include:

  • Accepting a friendly stranger
  • Sitting politely for petting
  • Appearance and grooming
  • Out for a walk
  • Walking through a crowd
  • Sit and down on command and staying in place
  • Coming when called
  • Reaction to another dog
  • Reaction to distractions
  • Supervised separation

​CGC is offered on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. *CGC award is not guaranteed; all canines will be evaluated for their readiness and recommendation by our AKC CGC Evaluator.

Drop In’s/CGC Testing

Drop In Obedience:

Due to COVID-19, we are not currently holding any drop-in obedience or CGC testing at this time.

Please Note: Drop In’s are for Current Students, Students from the past 6 months, or those who are actively competing and have been approved by the Instructor. A trainer/staff member is on site to help check in and monitor, but will not actually be training. Cost is $5 per dog. Any dog showing aggression or any handler not following safety rules will be asked to leave immediately. Please bring your updated shot records with you if you are not currently in class.
